Fate is determined by the heart.

Your heart is a reflection of you were in the past, who you are in the present, and who you will become in the future.

Just as your thoughts, words, and actions will determine the life you live today, the things you like, the people you spend time with, and the beliefs you hold on too will ultimately determine the life you live tomorrow.

The way you reprimand your children, the way you carry yourself at work, the way you set aside time for study and devotion, from obvious things such as your actions around others to personal things such as your deepest fears and insecurities, everything about you right now is shaping the person who you will become.

You are always in the state of becoming someone new.

Through the influence of your heart and by the power of your decisions, you are in complete control of the person you will become.

Every way of a man is right in his own eyes, but the Lord weighs the heart.

Proverbs 21:2

This world is full of people who by the simple guise of following the desires of the heart ultimately found themselves with nothing but ruin and destruction.

Though our hearts rightfully yearn for good and just things such as family, love, and equality, sometimes our hearts yearn for wicked and vile things such as revenge, injustice, and prejudice.

Even though it may seem innocent and good to be lead by the fire of our emotions or by the gales of our personal opinions the greatest truth that anyone could come to discover about life is that reality will never change just because we choose to look at it a certain way.

Our emotions may guide us to spew venomous words at our children for the sake of reprimanding them and even though in our own eyes we seem to be doing that work of a good parent all we accomplish in reality is the tearing down of a lost soul in need of patience and guidance.

Very few circumstances in life are ever as simple as we would like them to be.

With one misstep, everything pleasing and nourishing in our lives could be flipped on its head leaving us lost, confused, and left wondering where we went wrong.

The greatest obstacle we will ever face on the road to a better life is ourselves.

To obtain a better fate in the limited time we have on earth, we must be able to suppress our emotions and to silence the voices in our heads that tell us over and over again that we are right and everyone else is wrong.

To obtain a better fate we must deny ourselves in our perceptions and in our biases and instead pursue the freedom that can only be found through the truth and righteousness of Jesus Christ.

Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.

Psalm 51:10

We rarely ever pay attention to when anything goes well in our lives yet whenever we find ourselves in the midst of a crisis or hardship, the feelings of suffering and anguish we experience become the only thing we can think about and everything in our lives seems to come to a startling halt.

That’s no way to live and that’s not apart of God’s plan for you.

You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.

Psalm 16:11

Through the power of the gospel of Jesus Christ, we can find hope and joy in the midst of our moments and suffering and find peace and thankfulness in our moments of rest and comfort.

By subduing our hearts in accordance with the will of God, we are able to control our emotions through self-control and subjugate our divisive prejudices and opinions through wisdom and truth.

Fate is determined by the heart, therefore, rather than rely on the circumstances of our lives to control our hearts we should instead rely on the truth and absolution of God’s word and will to help us become the force for good that this world so desperately needs.

Who is it that overcomes the world? Only the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.

1 John 5:5

A fate encumbered by a sinful heart will lead only to a lifetime of tragedy and regret.

A fate guided by a righteous heart will lead to a life of honor and triumph.

Take control of the person you are becoming.

Live a life of freedom from the burdens of the past and of anticipation for the hope of your future.

God will always be there to show you the way, all you have to do is make the constant decision to listen first and speak later.

There will always be limits to what you can do, yet through the will of God, you can dare to go beyond them.
