The Importance of Being Honest With Yourself

If you could only see yourself as God sees you, your well of self-worth would be bursting at the seams.

You are an awesome human being.

So awesome in fact that God gave his only son, just so that he could have a relationship with you.

Within you lies the potential to change the world.

You are loved, you are powerful, you are strong, you can never be defeated.

But you’re still human.

And that means every now and again, you will make mistakes.

You will speak when you should have listened, you will run when you should have fought, you will borrow when you should have provided.

Romans 3:23

23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

We all will stumble and we all will fall.

We all have our timely doubts and we all have our shortcomings of character.

It just in our nature.

But that’s okay because in God we have found our salvation.

In our repentance unto him for our transgressions, we deny our desire to live in the iniquity that exists in the practice of self-doubt, frustration, envy, and melancholy so that such practices have a grip over our lives no longer.

Yet if we are not honest with ourselves in admitting our own transgressions, we can not have a hope of being made whole through our repentance.

If we are quick to cast blame and liability on those who oppose us, we can never hope to cleanse away the darkness that lies within our own hearts as we refuse to believe that we could ever be in the wrong.

Proverbs 28:13

Whoever conceals their sins does not prosper,
but the one who confesses and renounces them finds mercy.

The importance of being honest with yourself is this…

only when we choose to acknowledge our own wrongdoings can gain the strength to overcome them.

So be critical with yourself in your reflection of the moments of conflict, frustration, and defeat.

Search your heart to find the lesson of truth that lies beyond each of the trying times in your life and use your repentance to engrave these truths into your heart so that God may restore you to a greater quality of life.

God wants to give you so much more than you lost, but he can’t do that if you’re not willing to receive it.

So make your heart humble.

Make your mind reflective.

And make your soul repetitive.

Any weak man can struggle hate and fight his enemies.

Only a strong man searches for his willingness to forgive.

Search and purify yourself so that God may be able to enter in.

In a life lived for God, only one thing is certain…

no greater strength is the strength to surrender.

Peace.
